Jerry Falwell Dies

Jerry Falwell has died at age 73. It is at times like this that I wish that Dante’s Inferno was non-fiction, and that we could find out which circle of Hell he wound up in. Rather than worrying about whether it is proper to detail the sins of such an evil person so soon after his death, I will refer readers to The Carpetbagger Report where Steve Benen has docmented Falwell’s life and words.

    Dear Ron, Visitors:
    My sentements on Falwell are just total disgust, he was a troll that used Christianity to justify his bigotry and racism.
    He called Dr. Martin Luther King as insincere, he supported apartheid and urged his followers to buy Kugerands to support it [disgusting!]was a segregationist. He also came out with the “Clinton Chronicles” where he bribed or at the very least paid state troopers geee Mister Christian Man what happened to not bearing false witness against thy neighbor? He stole the PTL club from Jim And Tammy Faye Bakker I mean I could go on and on about his misconduct Ron but I will spare you naucious details you are most likely already aware of. I just needed to sound off because the media particularly MSNBC are treating him like some sort of a patron saint ughhhh!
    I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone when on the Chris Matthews Hardball Show of all people the Rev. Al Sharpton was kissing up to Falwell maybe Sharpton might be angling for a some sort of an appointed position in the new democratic administration, who knows, it just seemed all so bizarre to me.
