There’s nothing like losing which makes you look like, well, a loser. After receiving a thumpin’ at the polls, Bush’s approval rating has reached a new low at 31% in the latest Newsweek poll. While Newsweek joins many others in downplaying the Democratic victory as a Republican loss, it is significant that a majority does support the Democratic agenda.

Wireless wire-taps unlikely to be ok’d

There has never been an instance where Bush could show illegal taps were the only method that caught a terrorist.
If he could do that then maybe they could make a case for the taps. They would have to show that no other tool could possibly work.
The Dems are willing to allow very easy court orders to allow a legal wire tap.
This is just another attempt to play the bully.
It wasn’t too long ago that seven in ten were vocal Bush supporters. It was a lifetime ago when seven in ten were vocal Bush supporters (It was the best of times, it was the worst of times).
Now, we can have absolutely no doubt that there is a hard core 30% of people in this country who are willing to give up their freedoms, sacrifice our best based on obvious lies, let others suffer without decent health care, and allow the media to be used as a propaganda tool. And the only reason they allow these things to occur is for the love of the almighty dollar.
Hi OC,
We stayed in Roselle with one of my brothers for the Al Franken show in Chicago. We had a blast.
I am not sure if the hardcore 30% is over money. I think the group is mixed and not joined by money. Conservatives in general demand a strong central government – a kind of father figure – and they will support their daddy until the bitter end. I have this discussion at work with folks that are convinced Dumbya is the best POTUS ever. No amount of reasoning and logic works. These people are not rich and are certainly not dumb ( most are world-class programmers). They just see the world differently and have a different referance.
I start to get through by asking how their kids will benefit. It is slow going but their kool-aid is addictive.
