I honestly don’t know how far back the roots of this go, but it does seem to me that it’s become progressively worse in my half-century of life — i.e., that presidential elections are becoming not about who would would be the best President …who’s the most intelligent, the most experienced, the most forward thinking, the most honest and trustworthy and so on… no, it’s about who is the most effective campaigner. It’s all about electability, you know.

And to my mind, the Clintons have all the ruthless efficiency of a pair of great white sharks. They are skilled and enthusiastic fighters. The kind of campaigning they are doing now is something that they truly love. They both seem to have been “blessed” with a special gift for it, as if it’s in their genes, and they getting better at it as time passes. This is their era, their perfect storm that combines their talents and their lust for power and the voter environment I mentioned above. In an earlier time, their ruthlessness would have been repulsive to too many… but not now.

These days successful candidates don’t inform, don’t persuade, don’t inspire. Successful candidates engage in all-out psychological warfare with their opponents and engage voters in propaganda campaigns that would make der Fuhrer proud.

I’ve observed the Clintons since the fall of 1976, when I used to pass them in corridors of Waterman Hall virtually every day. They are political animals in the worst possible connotations of the word.

I wish it was not so.

I agree. I don’t want our party to sell our souls to win the White House.

It’s disgusting. The Clintons have become that very thing they fought against in the 90’s. Absolute power corrupted them absolutely. Remember the reason Bill Clinton gave in his book as to why he was boinking Lewinsky?

“Because I could.”

He thought he could do anything because he was president. Power is intoxicating and that’s the SOLE REASON they want to get back to Washington. They crave like an alcoholic off the wagon, to drink from The Cup of Ultimate Power again, and they’ll do ANYTHING to get it.

But in casting aside all shame, all dignity and all sense of ethics, they’re turning off too many of the base. The most progressive and informed of us are disgusted. Hillary is banking on women who use her as a cypher of “feminism”. Her supporters feel that getting Hillary elected will somehow make up for years of sexism and they could care less how unworthy she is. They’re completely brainwashed. And polls show that the less educated the Democrat, they more they favor her.

She’s completely discarded the Afro-American vote because they are no longer of any use to her. She feels that Latinos can make up for it. And that’s them in a nutshell. Americans aren’t people, they’re simply voting blocks to use and discard as needed.

It’s sickening.

For a minute there I thought you were talking about Huckabee’s son David who is in fact a puppy killer. Ok, maybe not a puppy, but a dog for sure.
