Thompson isn't officially in the race and didn't compete. Giuliani and McCain didn't compete. Beating Duncan Hunter doesn't mean much (and it may be time for him and some others to give it up). The biggest problem is that when it comes to the ultimate nomination battle, only coming in first will matter. Ron Paul beat Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Duncan Hunter He did nearly five times better than the telephone polls suggested. From now on we will have to multiply his poll results by four or five to get his real level of support. Later this is awsome news.

We are in it to win it. A jump from 1-2% in the polls to taking 9% is pretty good especially since he was campaigning in Iowa for such a short time compared to the others.
