The two are separate events. The school shooting has no bearing on whether Imus should have been fired.

well what i got to say about all this is that if we start worrying about that skool shooting with 33 ppl dead and spend less time worrying about a bunch of black; we’de be all right. Thats the problem in this world. We give give to the blacks and they are screw ups in the end.

If any kids were assaulted like that they would be fired.
Or if not fired then severely reprimanded or fined. Perhaps a giant fine to be paid to the educational institution.
The trouble with Imus is this was a constant pattern. He normally abused adults.

Attacking our children must never be tolerated regardless of race.

How about if your kids were on the receiving end?
Great isn’t it.

Suppose Imus called Hillary a whore.
Would folks be so upset?
How about Oprah?
There would be outrage but it wouldn’t be so intense because these are adults in the public.

How about if someone called Bubba a pimp?
The reaction would probably be what’s your point as he is a noted skirt chaser.

The problem is attacking people that can’t defend themselves.
HC and Ophrah are big girls. They have the resources and the experience to deal with it.

But a bunch of teenage women? Get real.

Anyone is free to comment on such an issue regardless of race. There is no one who officially represents white people or any other race. There is a far greater number of whites with power and influence than blacks so I don’t think we’d have to worry about any shortage of people speaking out in such a situation.

ye thats perfectly OK; but he needs to be more diverse in the races he supports, white, mexican etc…….

but sometimes he gets his head in too much stuff though; like the shooting between the NY cops and black man……another one……..but were not talking bout that though.

What i want to know is who represents the white people if something like ever happenedd?

I didn’t rally to get Imus fired and I wouldn’t rally to get a black fired in a similar circumstance. I’d condemn the comments of either. As I said above, it is perfectly understandable that Sharpton’s major concern would be to defend members of his own race and there’s nothing wrong with that.

If a black man said something on TV or radio or anything like that about the white race, would u be pissed off???? and are going to rally infront of there office to demand the firing of them???? And r u going to get shaprton to rally with you??? cause id think he would do that, he DOES NOT SUPPORT WHITE PEOPLE.

This has absolutely nothing to do with freedom of speech. Privately Imus can say what he chooses. When he says it as an employee of CBS and MSNBC, as owners of the networks they have the right to terminate his employment to keep their networks from being associated with such a message.

What black people say in front of you is totally irrelevant to any of this.

I think what is being missed is the girls insulted were kids. They wern’t politicians or actors. They werent folks who are constantly in the limelight. I remember when Chelsea Clinton was a gawky kid in the WH and some cartoonists really took some shots at her appearance. I was a Repub then but this was really cruel. A member of the MSM got really angry and told the rest of the media to leave her alone as she was just a kid.

Imus is a scum bag and is not alone. But he decided to call a bunch on teenagers whores. That must be really great for the kids and their families to hear.

First of all, it is not surprising to see people act most strongly as advocates for their own groups. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. This is especially true when coming from a minority group which might be at a poltitical disadvantage if not for prominent people such as them getting involved.

Secondly, are there any analogous situations where there is a black radio personality who deserves to be fired for reasons comparable to the reasons for which Imus was fired?

The views of the basketball team is only one factor. The issue isn’t only one of insulting the members of the team but of insulting all blacks and women. As a black, Sharpton has a say in this matter.

“Now let me ask you a question: If it was a black man…”

That misses the point. This is not just a man saying something. It is a prominent radio personality saying this on the air which makes this a matter of public concern.
