I hope it Heroes gets a little more time, but I think it might help the show to have an end point to aim for. I'd rather have a higher quality show for a shorter time than have a show stick around and decline in quality. Both the BBC and cable often do a better job with more limited series.

On the subject of Heroes...

I didn't like the second season (though I loved Kristen Bell) at all, but I thought the third was far superior to the first... or that it started out that way with the 'Villains' arc. Sylar became interesting to me for the first time in the run of the show, whereas he'd been boring and unremarkable to me in the first two seasons.

I felt the biggest flaw with the third season was not the story or acting (both of which I thought had improved) but the constant meddling by the network forcing frequent writer changes and sudden changes of story direction. If they had just left it alone, they might have saved themselves a lot of grief.

When 'Villains' became 'Fugitives' the story itself became a little less interesting, but the stability of the plotline was a nice change from the 'more inspired' but constantly disrupted plot of 'Villains.' Whether it was Zachary Quinto's improved acting or improved writing, Sylar remained more interesting than he had been in previous seasons.

I like this season quite a bit, even if it is a bit of a bald X-Men rip-off. Nathan/Sylar is more fun to watch than Nathan was, and Adrian Pasdar's 'talent' has always eluded me. Zachary Quinto playing 'Nathan' is much more interesting to watch.

I'd be disappointed if it were cancelled, because I think it's finally getting good and steering a steady course at the same time after bouncing back and forth between the two.

Can someone who has starred in a cult-tv series and the moderately successful movie version of same really be called a 'breakout star' when she does a new series?

I mean, presumably, she was cast because of her previous work as described. This sort of suggests she's already 'broken out.' And such a key figure as THE main bad guy is hardly a 'breakout role.' One expects it to be pretty important.

Are critics fumbling their own jargon, now, in their quest for more sensationalism?
