Ron pretty much covered everything I might say. All I can do is pretty much reenforce what he said.

1.) MSNBC has a liberal bias to some of its opinion shows. On the other hand, MSNBC morning host Joe Scarborough is a pretty conservative former GOP Congressman from Florida. While Scarborough is a sensible intellectual where many other conservatives are not, he is still pretty conservative. MSNBC's news product is as objective and straightforward as one will find on cable news, though it certainly falls into the headline-and-soundbite pitfalls of the industry,

2.) CNN's news analysis shows have a slight conservative bias, though some individual CNN journalists still have what could be called a 'liberal' tilt. CNN is the 'official corporate news' in many ways and, thus, it has a natural neoconservative tilt. It should also be noted that CNN's 'news analysis' shows are clearly differentiated from their pure journalism. CNN's opinion shows on Headline News are right wing, sometimes stridently so. Nancy Grace and Lou Dobbs are not 'mainstream' conservatives perhaps, but they are certainly not liberals and their shows communicate right wings tropes on key issues.

3.) The actual journalism product of the three major networks is not substantively different. However, on Fox it is presented in smaller quantities, with more commentary, and with an 'expert' to give the official right wing spin on everything reported. In addition, the opinion shows (one of the worst offenders if Neil Cavuto) frequently present themselves as news shows.

MSNBC does not show the bias that Fox does on its news shows. Unlike Fox, there is a difference at MSNBC where the opinion shows (primarily at night) are different from the real news shows. Even the opinion shows at night on MSNBC, while definitely non-objective, provide far more accurate information than Fox. As you refer to panelists, I assume you are referring to the opinion shows on MSNBC. MSNBC also has objective news shows, while Fox shows the same bias in its news shows as its openly opinion shows.

CNN has hired far more Republicans since Ted Turner sold the network. In general it has a conservative, not liberal, bias but does generally try to be objective and is not as uniform in its bias as Fox. Conservatives tend to consider CNN liberal since it is not as blatantly conservative as Fox.

while I have no argument that Obama should not make a bigger deal out of the Fox situation than is necessary, the author is one sided in his beliefs. Fox News my be on the more conservative side but not all other news stations are neutral when it comes to delevering the news. MSNBC and CNN both tend to favor liberal values and attack conservative panelist. The unfair playing field among all news stations needs to be aknowledged.
