Pre-Debate Political News: Sexism, Gennifer Flowers, and Perjury

Clinton Trump Clowns

The debate hasn’t even been held yet, and already Clinton is complaining of sexism. I have never seen a politician who does so much to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. As I’ve recently noted, the Clinton camp is willing to raise charges of sexism over anything, no matter how absurd. Not that I want Trump to win either, but one of the many reasons I don’t want Hillary Clinton to be president is so that we don’t have to put up with the inevitable charges of sexism for opposing Hillary’s likely wars and infringements on civil liberties.

Trump is also being rather tacky in talking about bringing Gennifer Flowers to the debate (and Flowers has accepted the invitation).

Bringing up Gennifer Flowers and Bill’s extramarital affairs leads to reminders of Bill’s impeachment based uponĀ  perjury. Newsweek reveals that Donald Trump could face perjury charges of his own. Trump made a statement during one of the debates which contradicted what he said while testifying in 2007. Either he lied during the debate, which would be nothing new, or Trump committed perjury in 2007.

While I think that Bill’s impeachment was a ridiculous example of overreach, it did set a precedent that perjury is grounds for impeachment.

On the other hand, if we are looking back at actions prior to becoming president, there is a lot in Clinton’s conduct as Secretary of StateĀ  which could be considered legitimate grounds for impeachment. Someone who violated ethics agreements they entered into before taking one position is hardly a suitable candidate for president.

With both parties having nominated candidates who are unethically unfit to be president, maybe we should plan for starting impeachment hearings in January regardless of who wins.

With this post, I think Liberal Values has now crossed over into the junior-high level, and falling fast.  Kindergarten, here we come.  Trump is "tacky?"  The nerve; well, it's shame on him, isn't it.  Wait till he appoints the next 3 or 4 SCOTUS justices, and see where the false equivalencies here stand up.

Are you turning into one of the typical Clinton supporters who cannot comment without lying about what was said–as you are grossly distorting what I have said about Trump.

Do you deny that the invitation of Gennifer Flowers is rather tacky?

You are being rather dishonest with your implication that tacky is all that I have said negative about Trump–ignoring all my other posts where I have called him racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, and utterly incompetent?

How do you know that Trump will appoint 3 or 4 Supreme Court Justices? It is rather doubtful that he will have more than four years if he is anything as president like he appears now. The election of either Trump or Clinton is likely to be a disaster for either party, potentially leading to the opposite party winning the next few elections. We are very likely to have more Justices picked by Republicans than Democrats over the next decade if Clinton wins.

It is hardly worth backing Clinton and all her wars in the hopes that she picks suitable Justices considering that she is more conservative that Scalia was on civil liberties. While the choices would be better than Trump’s, her choices to the court are not likely to be all that liberal. Overall Bill’s judicial picks were rather moderate, and Hillary’s will probably be more conservative. It is hardly justifiable to back Hillary’s wars and restrictions on civil liberties based upon hopes which very will not come about that we will have a better court.

Hillary will probably succeed in moving the country more to the right than Trump could. We will probably see bigger cuts to Social Security and Medicare, more restrictions on reproductive rights, and more people die in unnecessary wars if Clinton is president.

Neither Trump nor Clinton is acceptable.

Claiming “false equivalencies” is also rather absurd considering Clinton is the one who has actually done what we fear Trump would do.

Hillary Clinton has actually lied us into wars. Her record includes promoting the Iraq war based upon false claims of ties between Saddam and al Qaeda. She orchestrated regime change in Libya based upon claims which have not held up. Her record also includes Honduras, pushing for intervention in Syria based upon rather irrational arguments. and pushing for increased hostilities with Russia.

Plus she voted with the Republicans to block a ban on the use of cluster bombs in civilian areas.

The Clintons have an actual record of deportations and mass detention.

The Clintons are responsible for mass incarceration.

Hillary worked with the Fellowship while in the Senate to impose her religious views on public policy.

Hillary Clinton is responsible for introducing legislation to suppress civil liberties in violation of the Constitution, and has backed other restrictions on civil liberties. She has verbalized the same position as Donald Trump in disregarding freedom of speech for fighting terrorism.
