Conservative Publication Claims Obama To Back Warren Over Clinton

Conservative publications often report on a Bizarro World, fact-free version of the real world. I’m sure readers know about the general outlines of their alternate reality. In conservative publications Barack Obama is a Muslim Socialist born in Kenya, Republicans support limited government, and the generally accepted principles of science and economics do not exist. There are also lots of conspiracy theories and other stories which haven’t been repeated as often outside of the right wing echo chamber.

Generally their stories are pure fiction which is not worth paying any attention to. A story in The New York Post today realistically fits in that category, but in this case it differs from most of their claims in that I wish it was actually true:

President Obama has quietly promised Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren complete support if she runs for president — a stinging rebuke to his nemesis Hillary Clinton, sources tell me.

Publicly, Obama has remained noncommittal on the 2016 race, but privately he worries that Clinton would undo and undermine many of his policies. There’s also a personal animosity, especially with Bill Clinton, that dates from their tough race six years ago…

Obama has authorized his chief political adviser, Valerie Jarrett, to conduct a full-court press to convince Warren to throw her hat into the ring.

In the past several weeks, Jarrett has held a series of secret meetings with Warren. During these meetings, Jarrett has explained to Warren that Obama is worried that if Hillary succeeds him in the White House, she will undo many of his policies.

He believes that the populist Warren is the best person to convince the party faithful that Hillary is out of touch with poor Americans and the middle class. Warren, in his view, would carry on the Obama legacy after he leaves the White House.

If only they could have it right on this one, considering my hopes for a better Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton, but it is doubtful there is any validity to this story.

Hoorah! At last, Ron, we can agree on something other than how amusing ‘Fargo’ was. Yes, yes, yes, please let ‘Fauxcahontas’ run she is the funniest thing since Joan Rivers – who by the way, shared some odd perceptions of your POTUS and FLOTUS recently, I was shocked, I tell you, shocked! Anyway, please, please, bring on ‘Fauxcahontas, even some dim Republican should make mincemeat of her.

As it happens, I believe that story. It is just another colossal misjudgement of the sort that has characterised the Obama ‘apparat’ which, of course, is really run day-today by the deeply unlovely Jarret woman whilst he plays golf!

Unlike conservatives who dwell on trivia and ignore actual issues, I’m far more interested in her views and capabilities than these silly stories. Maybe it is because it is early and we haven’t gone down for breakfast (as I’m still on our long 4th of July vacation) or maybe I just missed it, but off hand I don’t recall what she said about POTUS and FLOTUS. Regardless her statements on why she changed from a Republican to a Democrat when she realized that Democrats, not Republicans, are interested in promoting market economies, is more significant.

Being on vacation allowed me to read the first three novels since Defending Jacob. The most interesting was Summer House With Swimming Pool by Herman Koch. I’m glad I read it on an e-book reader which might make it easier to reread some key passages after its ambiguous ending.

Hmmmn! I haven’t heard of Koch and his books but I just read a review of ‘Swimming Pool” which makes it sound rather intriguing – unpleasant, by the sound of it, but intriguing. Wee shall see!

And it was Joan Rivers who told us that FLOTUS was a ‘tranny’ and POTUS was queer. Quite disgraceful, although I confess to a snigger!

As for ‘Fauxcahontas’, apart from the fairly obvious fact that she might have difficulty spelling the word ‘economics’, at least you are able to judge how her policies might work in practice by looking over the water at France where Pres. Hollande over the past two years has instituted many of those things you, and ‘Fauxcahontas’ hold dear. Result? France is about to go back into recession.

‘HillBilly’ is ghastly and mostly useless but at least she is practical and if Bill is pulling her strings then she would be doubly practical.

    Hope you enjoyed your break.

France has nothing to do with what I want–what is the conservative obsession with France? In the Unites States, Democratic economic have consistently led to greater economic growth and prosperity while Republican policies lead to recessions and depressions. Capitalism will always be far superior to Republican Voodoo economics. Republican economic policies have never worked in any country at any time, unless your goal is a banana republic with a tiny plutocracy controlling all the wealth. It does not work to destroy the middle class, hoping wealth to trickle down from the ultra-wealthy. It also does not work to run up huge deficits when controlling the presidency, and then push austerity when out of office as the Republicans do.

The “unpleasant” views of Koch’s novels probably comes from the manner in which most of his characters are not very good people (at least in the last two which have been translated into English). This includes the narrator, whose perception of things probably varies somewhat from how others would see them and may or may not be honest in their account. Summer House with Swimming Pool has also frustrated some readers as what happened remains ambiguous as we are limited to what the narrator both knows and says.
