Fix For Sharing Problems With WordPress Blogs

I have had some problems with the format of shared posts on Facebook for quite a while. Matters got far worse this week when I found I could no longer share a post to Facebook and have it properly pull up the link and information into Facebook. After searching around, I found a plug-in which fixed this: WP Facebook Open Graph protocol.

This plugin adds well executed and accurate Facebook Open Graph Meta tag information to your site. The idea is to keep minimal settings and options as to remain out of your way and in the background while still proving a powerful Open Graph plugin for your WordPress site. This plugin works on Facebook, Google Plus, and Linkedin.

This solved both the major problem I was having this week and some long-standing minor ones.

It also offers a function I never had before–the option of choosing a graphic to appear with every post if there is no graphic in the post. Just as a test I used the graphic on the blog from Feedly. As time permits, I will have to find a better routine graphic to use, along with fine tuning some of the other options for sharing.

Update: The fix seems to only work on new posts, or older posts from before the last problem, so initially it did not appear to work when I tried to test it on recent posts.

I’ve also been alternating between a couple different plugins to handle links: Really Simple Facebook Twitter Share and Sociable. Each is similar but differers slightly in which sites they link to and how they look.

Obamacare Versus Old Free Market Health Insurance Plans

Health Care Under Obamacare:

  • High deductibles and co-pays on the individual market
  • High premiums–often offset by subsidies
  • Possible restrictions on which doctor people can see
  • Many businesses reducing benefits for employees
  • Some people will not be able to keep their current insurance plans or doctor every year
  • People cannot be denied coverage due to having medical problems
  • New standards ensure that insurance companies will provide certain benefits

Health Care Before Obamacare:

  • High deductibles and co-pays on the individual market
  • High premiums–but no subsidies available to help pay for coverae
  • Possible restrictions on which doctor people can see
  • Many businesses reducing benefits for employees
  • Some people will not be able to keep their current insurance plans or doctor every year
  • People could be denied coverage due to having medical problems
  • Many health plans provided minimal health coverage

Pretty similar, except for the major differences in the last two items. Insurance under Obamacare is pretty similar to how private insurance always has been, with some major improvements

When people are looking at the Affordable Care Act, many are comparing it to an imaginary perfect system. People purchasing policies on the exchanges are seeing many of the problems which people purchasing private insurance on the individual market have been experiencing. Some of the issues have also existed for those obtaining health coverage through their employer.

I’ve been planning to post this comparison for a while, but it seemed a good time today when National Journal posted an article showing How the health care law became the scapegoat for everything.
