Bloodthirsty Partisan Bloggers

Conservatives tend to ignore the real problems which motivate a demand for health care reform. John Fund believes Democrats are pushing for reform out of a fear of “bloodthirsty partisan bloggers.” (Hat tip to Booman Tribune.)

Does that really mean that the Republicans have pushed right wing extremist policies because they are afraid of bloodthirsty conservative bloggers?

Does Fund also believe that groups such as the American Medical Association, The American Diabetes Association, and AARP are pushing for health care reform because they are afraid of bloodthirsty partisan bloggers?

To indulge that cynical and misanthropic streak again, Fund doesn’t even believe that the Democratic Party is afraid of ‘bloodthirsty partisan bloggers.’ He’s simply making another of the outlandish and moronic claims conservatives have been making since, at least, Joe McCarthy. The streak of wild disregard for the facts on the right these days makes it entirely clear why people like Ann Coulter have tried to rehabilitate McCarthy with revisionist analysis.

Actually a more plausible scenario.  Given the threatening rhetoric in evidence on the populaist right these days, and the violent incidents which have happened, there’s every reason to suspect that “bloodthirsty” in their case is more than just a metaphor.
