Dana Perino Has Forgotten About 9/11

Bush apologists typically deny the degree to which George Bush undermined our national security and placed us a far greater risk of terrorist attacks. Now’s here is the ultimate revision of history (via Political Wire):

Even if she meant “since 9/11” she would be wrong http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/09/04/lax.shooting/index.html

True. I suspect she did botch their standard talking point that there hasn’t been an attack since 9/11. It is already ridiculous to leave out the biggest one ever, especially considering how the Bush administration ignored warnings they should have taken action on. It is also incorrect.

We’re talking about a spin machine to whom the actual facts mean nothing because their target audience is so angry at everyone they feel has done them wrong that they will believe anything. True or not. Religious fervor, economic frustrations, racial politics, and a towering sense of thwarted entitlement will make attractive lies and heroic mythology a lot more palatable than a truth that is sometimes cold, sometimes hard, and doesn’t discriminate based on the inborn (or inbred) sense of entitlement people possess.
