The American Medical Association has recommended that the federal government change the classification of marijuana as a Schedule I drug to allow for its use under medical supervision. Schedule I drugs are those considered to be to hazardous to have any medical value and cannot be prescribed by physicians, even with a controlled substance license. This is getting harder to justify considering that, while doctors still cannot prescribe marijuana, thirteen states now allow individuals to use marijuana for medical reasons and others are considering it. Valid medicinal value, it’s a victimless crime, the War on Drugs WAY too costly, too many arrests for simple possession, tax it and use the money to pay for health insurance and to reduce the deficit…Need I say more?
