Sanford Admits Affair

Mark Sanford’s disappearance had the feel of a political novel. Yesterday there was speculation that he was keeping his location secret because of participating in Naked  Hiking Day. While that would have provided new material for the late night comedians, that is far less embarrassing than the truth revealed today that he was having an affair.

Once it was revealed that he was actually in Buenos Aires and that his wife did not know his location it was easy to guess he was on a vacation with a woman. The political consequences are obvious. As Charles Cook wrote, “I think you’ve got one less contender for president.” Whether such an affair should be ignored as irrelevant to the duties of president or seen as a reflection on his character which disqualifies him, there is little doubt that few people other than John Edwards and Eliot Spitzer are  hoping  that Sanford survive this poltically.

I just started a blog a few weeks back . Geez, this is work. Anyway – today’s post is called Bi-partisan Affairs. And I’ve listed Liberal Values on there somewhere. Hope that’s okay. I have so much fun on yours that I may just kill mine.

By the way, as I also told Mike recently, I am trying to figure out why the comments from a few of you wind up getting held in moderation. I can’t find any controls in moderation which would apply, but for an unknown reason some people’s posts are always winding up held in moderation.

Creating a blog is almost like having a baby – labor intensive. Have already made about 500 changes and there are more to come.

I wind up using my Palm when away from a computer to quickly put through the posts held in moderation. At least it works well for that, but it is a hassle to reply (but in a pinch I have used it for replies and even once for a post).

I added your blog on to the blogroll. You should also sign on with your url in posting comments as there is always the chance that people will click through and increase traffic.

Now if only they would get Technorati fixed. It is missing the vast majority of blogs linking here recently, giving a greatly reduced authority compared to before Technorati fell apart. It is a good thing this isn’t a commercial effort where the Technorati authority really mattered.

Thanks for the tip. Have revamped and revamped – everytime I visit. Anyway, this discussion has taken us away from the subject at hand.

And that would be S.C.’s preeminent lover boy. What is it with these guys that they can’t keep their zippers zipped? Or, if they want to dilly, they shouldn’t dally in politics, right? Can’t wait to hear the spin from these self-righteous repubs.

Here is my conservative spin, let Sanford be free to do whatever he wants, right after resigning from office. Sanford needs to step down, the sooner the better.

Actually,  I applaud his wife. Finally a woman strong enough to give her husband his due – kick him out. The only thing worse than running around is slapping around. Both victimize the woman.

Also, I question the smarts of politicians who engage in this kind of activity. They have to know that they will eventually get caught with their hands where they shouldn’t be. Frankly, I’m tired of the drama – where they cry and plead for mercy.
I’m no prude, trust me, but  when you represent the public, you should avoid the appearance of  behaving like an ass.

As Henry the K said — “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac”.  It predates the species.   You are not going to stop it.
But it does make for great soap opera.
