Barack Obama: Person of the Year

Many years there is speculation this time of year as to who Time will name their Person of the Year. This year I doubt anyone had any question as the winner was so obvious. A newly elected president has the inside track and generally wins. This year the nomination and election of Barack Obama seemed to dominate the news even more than in past election years.

First Read points out that Obama made the cover of Time fourteen times in the past year. He was also mentioned on the cover eleven other times, meaning he was somewhere on the cover of almost half of their issues. Obama made such a tremendous impact while running that he should have been under consideration even if he had lost. As president-elect there was no close competition.
