Gallup shows a steady increase in Jewish support for Obama, with Obama currently leading McCain 74 percent to 22 percent. This is partially a consequence of the two Sarahs. As Glenn Greenwald points out, Jewish voters dislike Palin’s social conservativism. Commentary also writes:
Sarah Palin was not well received in the Jewish community. If McCain was the unthreatening candidate, Palin reminded Jewish voters that Evangelicals still have power in the Republican Party, and Jews, it seems, don’t like to be reminded of that.
Then there’s the other Sarah. How much of the Jewish vote was solidified thanks to Sarah Silverman (video below) and The Great Schlep:
Whether enough white people, Jewish or otherwise, will be willing to vote for Obama is the deciding issue of this campaign.
I think I love her.
Which one? There are two quite distinctly different Sarahs mentioned in this post.
Thank you Sarah for helping in your way. The country needs the hope Obama brings. Perhaps all the grandparents like myself will take heart to your words.
