Hillary Clinton Would Send Bill Out of Country if Elected

If Hillary Clinton is elected, she said she’d send Bill Clinton out of the country. Well, maybe that’s not exactly what she said, but I could’t resist the headline. Here’s what she actually said:

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday that if she is elected president, she would make her husband a roaming ambassador to the world, using his skills to repair the nation’s tattered image abroad.

“I can’t think of a better cheerleader for America than Bill Clinton, can you?” the Democratic senator from New York asked a crowd jammed into a junior high school gymnasium. “He has said he would do anything I asked him to do. I would put him to work.”

If she’s looking for a cheerleader, perhaps she could get some tips from the current President. Afterall, Bush has experience both as a cheerleader and in influencing the opinion of the United States held by those in other nations. Unfortunately he has generally influenced it in a negative way.

The other Clinton news of the day doesn’t sound very good, even without the snarky spin used for the first story. Hillary Clinton went to Rutgers to meet with the members of the women’s basketball team, but the players decided to skip the meeting.

Hillary Clinton making husband Bill Clinton a world ambassador could be construed as a patronage appoinment in recognition of his fundraising accomplishments. Wonder how that would distinguish Hillary Clinton from the current Republican administration.

Hillary has many faults, but I would not blame her for utilizing her husband’s skills if she was President. Most would view this as recognizing his skills and taking advantage of them, not as a simple reward of his fund raising. This is hardly analogous to the corruption seen under the Republicans.

Think Bubba will take Monica along?
    He may never come back!

Actually I had a different sort of picture in mind than taking Monica along. I’m picturing him as an ambassador in the era of The Tudors, thinking of the scene where Henry asks Mary Boleyn (Ann’s sister) to show him what she learned while living at the French court. Except in this case, Bill will be traveling to Paris and other countries to see what the girls there can do.

In all seriousness (rare for me), there probably isn’t a more qualified person around. Due to his work in the Clinton Foundation, Bubba has the most credibility of any American. Add Jimmy Carter and our tatered reputation can start being restored.

Of course, it is going to take a different foreign policy paradigm. How about we stop overthrowing governments we do not like and replacing them with despots favorable to us.
