Kerry Introduces Bills to Assist Small Business

If John Kerry does run in 2008 he needs to get his entire record out. While Republicans distorted rankings in 2004 to call him the most liberal Senate Democrat, suggesting a leftist ideology, Kerry’s support for small business, as well as fiscal conservativism, might help him obtain votes from centrists and socially liberal “Starbucks Republicans” in 2008. Last week Kerry introduced four bills to assist small business. The bills will improve the government’s Disaster Loan Program, reduce health care costs for small firms, reform the Alternative Minimum Tax, and expand entrepreneurship opportunities in minority communities.

Unfortunatley, Kerry, has again got himself caught in the Reupblican, we must buy voters, by selling them tax cuts, rheotorical trap. He, again believes, adjustments, to the “Altenative” tax, are necessary to bring voters to his table. Nonsense, the majority of American voters, still exist, in the economic playing field, for which, this “Alternative” tax, is meaningless.

Give up the Republican rhetoric, Kerry, and get brave enough to try selling yourself, to, other than those, who can afford to pay, a $1000.00, a plate for dinner.

The AMT is predicted to affect a growing number of the middle class in coming years. The AMT is one reason why Bush’s tax cuts help the ultra wealthy, but growing numbers of middle class voters will see increases in taxes.

In proposing this Kerry is showing that he looks towards the future to anticipate problems before they become serious and he understands the long term consequences of current policy. He is also showing that his economic policies consider the interests of the entire country despite the attempts of the Republicans to paint him as a far leftist.

I’m solidly middle class, and my family has been paying AMT for several years now.

It amounts to a LOT of money, and is going to have a severe impact on the middle class in the next few years. It’s not pandering on Kerry’s part to take the issue on; he’s merely being responsible. The republicans, as usual, have been ignoring the middle class in favor of sticking with Bush’s tac cuts for the wealthy.

You are absolutely wrong concerning the AMT. In fact, one the the major problem with the AMT is that middle class families are now touched by the AMT because it has not been adjusted for year. Interestingly, rich families are less touched by it that middle class families, but you seem totally out of touch with the reality.

Also, Kerry is not selling tax cuts and favors repealing the tax cuts on the wealthy. However, he is trying to find solutions that can apply NOW for kids to go to college, families to have heathcare, and other small businesses to disappear. It may also surprise you in the weird universe you live in, but some of the small businesses families, those who have only one or two people, also are part of the lower income families. Or are you part of those who think that, because you are self-employed, you are rich.

All the measures that are posted here will favour those who try to create local jobs, that are not exported overseas, and those who simply want to create their own employment. And the people these measures are aimed at certainly cannot afford a $ 1000 plate fundraising dinner.

As a small business owner, I have to say I really resent Mr. Gates’ comments. The tax breaks offered to small business owners can often mean the difference between being in the red or in the black at the end of the year. Small business owners are among the least like people to be able to afford $1000 a plate for dinner.

Senator Kerry is not talking about tax cuts for Exxon. He wants to help small biz owners provide their employees with health insurance. He wants to help businesses that enrich communities, not the huge conglomerations that tear them apart. Those of us who are able to know the difference appreciate his efforts.

It seems Mr. Gates has fallen under the spell of Republican rhetoric that supporting small businesses is somehow the domain of the GOP. In fact, the GOP’s domain is helping large corporations, and particularly large corporations who give large donations to the Republican coffers. Kerry has and always will work for the little guy. I know many small business owners who are struggling with health care costs, and a tax cut will be very helpful to offset those costs which spells more people being covered out of the 45 million without.

I’m chiming in to suggest that sole proprietors start identifying themselves as such. That’s a way to differentiate between a larger C Corp type small businesses that employ hundreds of people’ and a local mom n pop who are often hit from all directions on taxes and regulations, as well as being emotionally invested in their employees’ lives. Helping these people is essential to the economies of small towns across the country. Senator Kerry is absolutely on the right track.
