The War on Terror is over, at least in Great Britain where “Cabinet ministers have been told by the Foreign Office to drop the phrase ‘war on terror’ and other terms seen as liable to anger British Muslims and increase tensions more broadly in the Islamic world.”
During the midterm elections dems like Sen. Kerry repeatedly said that the Afghanistan war is the real war on terror and not the Iraq war. This is a very interesting development and one wonders how the Bush administration will view this development as the Iraq war has always been part of the war on terror (according to them). The neo-cons have repeatedly stated that the Iraq war is part of the larger war on terror. According to Bush and Blair the Iraq war is a crucial part of the “war on terror”.
